Tuesday July 20
This morning the sun was orange. It turns out, the wildfires in Canada and the Western US have created smoke in the atmosphere that is now passing over us. We don’t detect it in the air at all but it has created an eerie hazy look in the sky. This morning we had pancakes and sausage for breakfast along with fruit salad and cranberry cardamom oatmeal. We did AM focus areas and morning electives. Then we had a delicious mac and cheese lunch with pizza bread, green salad, fruit salad, and raspberry lemon squares. After PM focus areas we had our second electives. Some of the elective options today were flower crown making, yoga, rugby, zen coloring, slip and slide, pit room, and beginner sculling. We had 3 of our LITs compete homeward bound, congrats for them! We ate a tasty chicken stir fry with rice for dinner, then just before evening activity we started to hear thunder. We had an indoor activity planned- game show night! We played name that tune, trivia, guess that counselor foot, and other game show-esque activities while we watched the storm roll by. During a break in the storm we hustled down to our cabins and fell asleep to the sound of rain on the cabin roofs.
