Wednesday July 21
This morning there was no rain when we woke up! The air was cool so the polar bear water felt a little bit warm. For breakfast we had onion broccoli quiche, chocolate chip pumpkin bread, and fruit salad. We did our community work time chores and headed off to our AM focus areas. Build class is building chairs out of 2 by 4s, advanced sculling developed their catch and finish techniques, farm and garden did some low key goat yoga with our 3 young goats, and hook and cook caught some large perch. For electives, some of the options today were cooking in the garden, whittling and carving, fairy houses, camouflage, zumba, and land vs water. Lunch was tacos! There were beef tacos and vegetarian with an awesome layered taco salad type dip and rice. We had an outdoor picnic and the weather started to get colder. During PM focus the CITs started demolishing an old dock down at the point that they are hoping to replace as their service project to camp which photography class documented for our HP historical records. There was a wet wood fire-building competition, some vikings quested through the waterfront and there was some epic buzz lightyear training. The afternoon offerings were scary stories, giant jenga, messy twister, floatation station, and beginner sculling. Dinner was the famous HP pizza night! We fired up the pizza oven around 2 pm to ensure it was hot enough by dinner time (about 675 degrees) and the entire camp ate a picnic dinner on the lawn and consumed about 85 whole pizzas! These pizzas are 100% handmade - from the dough, to the toppings & decorating, to the cooking! Campers love to watch Jon cook the pizzas and hear the story of how the pizza oven was built. After dinner we played STOOOOOOONES, the winner was the Thebes team! We had short section fires while we got ready for bed with some fun sing alongs by the CITs and LITs, we are all so tired from running around playing all day, we fell asleep quickly.
