Monday July 19
We woke up to a light drizzle, but the rain did not stop us from having fun! We had many polar bears swimming in Big Hosmer Pond this morning, we had scrambled eggs, potatoes, and maple scones for breakfast. We all pitched in for some community work time to accomplish some necessary camp cleaning. We had our morning focus areas for the first time, including playing soccer in the rain and SUPing in the rain, for just a few highlights! While “Olympics” focus area stayed dry with some indoor competitions, they screened some past olympic highlights to prepare for the upcoming Tokyo games. A large pickerel was caught in “hook and cook” class, but it was not cooked. For lunch we ate chicken caesar wraps and a variety of pasta salads to choose from. We had a brief rest hour and then jumped right back into activities. In the afternoon the rain stopped and the sun warmed us up just a smidgen. There was a pig pong tournament, a spelling bee, dibble dabble and plate diving, hardcore parkour, and theatrical personification. We had pork loin for dinner with super tasty mashed potatoes and ratatouille. The evening activity was Amazing Race, where we competed with our Greecey Cup teams to collect clues from all over camp. It was really fun to try to find all the different stations and complete each challenge, like the human knot, moby deck, corn hole, the floor is lava, and no hand basketball. We gathered in our closing circle at the end of the night and then returned to our cabin sections. We played hard today, and we will sleep hard too!
