Tuesday August 2

Dawn here at Hosmer Point as Polar Bear swimmers met at the buoy after swimming from the Point and the Bay. Scattered clouds and a few quick downpours and thunderstorms awaited us. In between and even during we filled our day with fun. For breakfasts we had pancakes and fruit with sausages. We then headed out to our focus areas, continuing to hone our skills and have fun. After that we headed to our electives which included such fun activities as Frisbee, water colors (done in the boathouse during a gentle rain), collage making, land verse water, and world cup (a group soccer game). Lunch was a hodgepodge of tasty food and a giant salad bar. Dinner was a Pita sandwiches and the evening activity was cabin night where we got to chill and bond in our cabins and then have a section fire where we got to make that most ubiquitous of camping desserts, S’MORES! The evening felt a bit cooler after the rain and the smell of the damp forest entered our cabins as we fell asleep. New word of the day: petrichor: a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather
