Monday August 1
Polar Bear swimmers we loud and clear as they swam out from the Point and the Bay to sing their morning chant at the buoy. A few roller bear runners could be heard running by on the gravel too. Breakfast was banana bread, bacon and sausage, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, fingerling potatoes, eggs, and even rice and beans. After we fueled up we headed to community work time (chores with laughter and smiles) and then to our first focus areas which we will be doing all week. Campers got to choose from such fun and diverse activities as: Boats Boats Boats, Yoga, Balls sports, survival skills, arts and crafts, woodworking, mountain biking, sailing, sculling, HP idol, self care, farm and garden, wild flower gathering and beyond. The day was clear and warm with a light breeze. Water, sunscreen, shade, and time in the lake were all in abundance today. Lunch was mac and cheese and BBQ chicken (or veggie burgers) and a huge salad. The afternoon was still warm, but had a nice breeze. Folks were ready for dinner and boy was it good, grilled pork loin with bbq sauce, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes with generously donated Jasper Hill Farm cheese, and as always a giant salad bar. The evening activity was the fun and sporty game of STONES! (think capture the flag but better). We sang our closing song and drank water before heading to bed. The night started out warm but got cooler. I imagine lots of bags zipping up as the night progressed.
