Thursday August 4
Polar Bears and Roller Bears watched the clouds start to come in and give us a break from the sun and hot temperatures. Breakfast felt a little quieter this morning as we ate bagels and cream cheese, breakfast meats, peach cobbler, jammy coffee cake, oatmeal, eggs, and cereal. The morning was buzzing as campers went off to day 4 of their focus areas. Electives today included mountain biking, protesting, archery, space ball, stand up paddling, arts and crafts, and much more. Lunch was a classic grilled cheese and tomato soup and of course a full salad bar. We had a delightful afternoon which included an open waterfront and lots of wet and happy campers. Dinner was super tasty local pasture raised BBQ chicken with roasted potato wedges, summer squash, peas, and a giant salad bar. The evening activity was a camp-wide game of capture the flag with a Hosmer twist. The game included tires, flags, buckets, and poles; ask your camper for a rule breakdown. We circled up in the fading light and sang our closing song on the soccer field before heading back to our cabin sections for fires and chill time before hitting the hay. From the top of the hill one could hear countless happy conversations spreading out around our bay and see a gentle flickering of two fires, one from the Point and one from the Bay, light and songs merging in the middle of the water where the Polar Bear swimmers meet every morning.
