Saturday August 6

Today is Link Day! The day between focus areas that includes lots of fun team competitions and plenty of choice time. Today was another hot one, so we knew we would spend a lot of time in the lake and drink lots of water. We had a sleep in today as well and walked up to breakfast at 9. We ate blueberry pancakes, ham, fruit, and as always, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and juice. After community work time we headed to our team comps including wildflower arrangement, running, boat relays, disc golf, card games, and more! We earned points for our teams and had a blast. We then got our camp shirts and took cabin pictures and a big camp one. We had lunch and ate inside and out depending on your preference. Many tacos were had by all! The afternoon saw lots of choice time with many folks chatting or playing card games in the shade, tye-dying their new shirts, and flying down the water-slide into the lake. At 4 we met by the water for the Call of the Loon Race. Older campers who wanted to participate had their names drawn and then signed up for legs of the relay race while their teams listened on the radio and cheered them on. We had runners, bikers, swimmers, canoers, SUPers, tennis players, archers, soccer players, basketball players, and as always it came down to team fire building. The last team to finish seemed to get even louder cheers than the first and fun was had by all. We had a lovely BBQ at the beach, played lots of games, had swim time, and signed up for next weeks focus areas. When the sun was setting we lit a fire and had s´mores, and a story before singing our closing song and headed back to our sections for the evening. Campers were asked to thank two people on their walk back and laughter and chatter followed them as they found friends, new and old, to appreciate.
