Monday July 5
This morning was chilly, but the sun came out quickly to warm us up. We had a lot of polar bears this morning for the first day of camp! We went to breakfast and had scrambled eggs, potatoes, and cheddar herb biscuits. Cereal and yogurt are also available every day. We all pitched in and did some camp chores in the morning like sweeping the dining hall, moving a tent, and tidying the waterfront. After that we had our AM focus areas for the first time. We also went to the first electives. The CITs and LITs have been really helpful around camp. Some of the CIT’s are working really hard all morning learning how to be lifeguards with Scott. Lunch was an outdoor picnic of chicken caesar wraps, quinoa salad, and sweet potatoes. We had PM focus areas and another elective in the afternoon. Some of the electives offered today were parkour, jewelry making, archery, mountain biking, land vs water, and stand up paddle boarding (SUPing). After that we had some choice time for E3 block. During our usually unstructured cabin time this afternoon, all the cabins prepared skits from the ‘grab bag’ using wacky concepts and super random props. We had roasted pork with fingerling potatoes and green beans for dinner, dessert was a really tasty berry cake with lemon icing. For campers who are not yet vaccinated, we got our covid tests after dinner on our way to the evening activity. It was so funny tonight to watch the skits and see what everyone came up with! Kyle was a strict judge, but fair. After that we had campfires in our cabin sections where we played games and sang songs, and then we fell asleep. We are tired after a very full day of fun activities, and we are looking forward to tomorrow!
