Sunday July 4
A great arrival day for Holiday Hill session. We had some early arriving campers who got to spend time with our CIT group and had a great time playing basketball. As cabinmates trickled in we went down to the waterfront to complete our swim checks. Everyone can still do every water activity, the swim check levels just indicate who needs a life jacket in what swimming sections. We then spent some time getting to know our cabin sections and our head counselors. After that, we went to some all-around-camp rotations to see more of camp and understand how things work. We visited the dining hall to learn about how we will stay spaced apart while we eat, we talked with Jon about emergency procedures, respect and general camp expectations, and we signed up for our weekly focus areas with CC. For dinner we had spaghetti and meatballs made by our incredible Chef Cecil. After dinner we got to choose our elective activities for tomorrow. Our evening activity was opening ceremonies and team sorting for the House Cup competition. Every camper and counselor is now a part of Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff and will gain points for their team the entire time they are at camp. Tonight we will have campfires in our cabin sections and get to know our new friends even more. Sometimes sleeping in a new environment is a little tricky on the first night, but our counselors understand this and are really prepared to make everyone feel safe and comfortable. We are staying warm, dry, and happy!
