Wednesday July 20
We awoke this warm morning to the sound of loons and our Polar Bear chanters echoing around our bay. A huge breakfast awaited us after our walk up the hill from the cabins. We had eggs, pancakes, sausage, potatoes, fruit, and of course oatmeal and a cereal bar. After community work time we headed off to our morning focus groups and continued our time honing our skills and having fun. The Capstone campers got to go on a field trip to hike Barr Hill and a secret swimming hole complete with waterfalls! Electives today included everything from viking quest, ping pong tourney, counselor portraits, archery, wordle tournament, mountain-biking, to stand up paddling. Mouths started watering the moment the fire was lit in the afternoon for our pizza oven. The pizza assembly line and cooking has been nailed down to a science thanks to our intrepid maintenance man Will who also was worked on tall ships and runs a tight, spotless, and efficient pizza kitchen even while having a blast. After our delicious wood fired pizza featuring amazing donated cheese from Jasper Hill Farm, we headed into a completely re-imagined dinning hall for our always fun, loud, and exciting Casino Night! Campers who wanted a little more quiet could go outside for tarot card reading or whittling time. Loons and owls once again sang us to sleep after a long, warm, and fun day.
