Tuesday June 29
Still a good amount of polar bears in the water this morning, but not so many roller bears running around. We woke up to slightly cooler weather, but the rest of the day was hot and humid. Staying hydrated and covered in sunscreen was extra important today. For breakfast we had pancakes, berry squares, sausage, and of course cereal and yogurt bar which is always available. For the second full day of camp, we returned to our AM and PM focus areas to keep improving our skills. Woodworking class is whittling some spoons, sculling class is getting in the shells on the water, farm and garden is making spring rolls, and guitar class is putting some chords together into songs. We had our first electives and then another outdoor picnic lunch of mac and cheese or sausage pasta, sourdough bread, fresh green salad, fruit salad, and carrot cake. After rest hour and our PM focuses we did another elective, Some of the electives offered today were archery, drip drip drop, road ride on bikes, fairy house building, harry potter discussion club, and cooking in the garden. In between the activities counselors had sunscreen for us to use, cold water available to drink, and sprinklers/hoses to run through to stay cool. The afternoon snack today was granola bars and cold lemonade! During E3 and cabin time we got to relax with our friends and have some choice time; some cabins had their turn on the low ropes course and the waterslide, the rest of the cabins will have their turns tomorrow. For dinner we ate at the table with our cabin groups and had a tasty gumbo with chicken and rice, then we went to game show night! This evening activity involved super silly stations like name that tune, guess-which-counselors-foot-this-is, minute to win it, and trivia. We had campfires with our cabin sections and went to bed happy and tired!
