Monday August 8

A last hot and sticky day here we hope. We do have the hydration and sunscreen thing down to by now though and campers are still having an awesome and safe time. After a sleep-in we got to eat chocolate chip pancakes with lots of fruit and maple syrup, a veggie frittata, juice, oatmeal, toast, and cereal. Morning focus began at 10:30 instead of 9:30 with the extra sleep and we didn’t have a morning elective because of that. By the afternoon we were back on our normal schedule. Campers and cabins could be seen practicing their lip-syncs around camp in between all the amazing electives. A few campers and counselors could be seen mouthing lyrics and testing dance moves even while waiting in the lunch line. After cabin time we had a lovely dinner with local ham featuring a maple mustard glaze, corn on the cob, and potatoes. Our salad bar continues to grow in diversity and volume as more and more things are being harvested from the garden. Evening activity was a fun and exciting game night with teams earning points for their teams. We had a few rain storms and thunder rolls throughout the evening. We headed down for the evening on what we hope would be the last hot and sticky night. Many took a cool shower before bed and teeth brushing. Folks were thankful for fans in the cabin tonight and the call of the loons on the lake could still be heard over all the white noise.
