Welcome back families to the camp blog! Let's dive into our action-packed first day, filled with tasty treats and exciting activities! We kickstarted our day with a scrumptious breakfast. The aroma of eggs, roasted potatoes, sizzling bacon, and freshly baked baguettes filled the air. With full bellies and smiles all around, we knew we were in for an incredible day ahead.
After our satisfying meal, the real fun began! We split into groups and experienced a mix of electrifying electives and informative camp orientation activities. Everyone joined in for the mandatory swim checks, ensuring safety while having fun in the water throughout camp. Then, we signed up for our chosen focus areas, where campers can dive deep into activities they're passionate about for the whole week.
Midday arrived, and our eager campers eagerly headed to the dining hall for a delightful lunch spread. We relished every cheesy bite of mac and cheese, savored the crispy sweet potato fries, and enjoyed a side of peas, adding a splash of color to our plates. The energy from lunch fueled us for the afternoon's adventures.
With a wide range of electives to choose from, campers got the chance to explore their interests and try new things. Some embarked on a thrilling canoe voyage, gliding through the serene waters of the lake. Others tapped into their creative side with finger painting, letting their imaginations run wild on the paper. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, ultimate frisbee proved to be a heart-pounding adventure. Our camp store was open, allowing kids to snag their favorite Hosmer Point merchandise and proudly display their camp spirit.
At Hosmer Point, we care about our planet, and that's why we celebrate Meatless Mondays! For dinner, we were treated to a delicious meatless feast. Tofu, perfectly seasoned and grilled, delighted our taste buds. We paired it with a generous helping of fluffy rice and a medley of vibrant, garden-fresh vegetables. This wholesome meal left us feeling nourished and ready for the evening activity.... STONES!!! Stones is basically a spin off of Capture the Flag, and our first of many compass cup competitions.
The first day at Hosmer Point camp has been nothing short of magical. From the delectable meals that fueled our adventures to the array of exciting electives and camp activities, we've already created lifelong memories and formed bonds that will last a lifetime. As we drift off to sleep all bundled up, we eagerly await the days ahead, brimming with laughter, exploration, and the joys of summer camp life.
