Sliding Scale for Camp Tuition
Hosmer Point Values In Action!
Hosmer Point is committed to keeping camp accessible to all families, regardless of income. We use an honor system, income-based sliding scale for our camp tuition. Families who pay more offset those families who pay less, so everyone can get to camp. Contributions above the true cost of camp are tax deductible donations.
We believe that families will use the values of Generosity, Kindness, and Cooperation we teach at camp as they choose how much to pay. At Hosmer Point we live by our values of Trust and Respect as we accept camp applications on the honor system, and Unity as we work together to make camp possible for everyone.

Sliding Scale FAQs
What should I pay?
We ask that each family keep our camp values of Generosity, Trust, and Kindness - and our goal of getting everyone to camp -in mind as they contribute what they can. Please use this guide to help decide which bracket is a good fit for your family. Keep in mind that we offer convenient interest-free payment plans as well. We also ask that returning families pay the same or more as previous years, unless you have a significant change in circumstances.
Are spaces at subsidized rates limited?
Spaces for campers paying less than the True Cost of Camp ($2500) are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If spaces are no longer available in the bracket you've chosen, your camper will be placed on a wait list. Families paying more than the True Cost of Camp will expand our scholarship fund, creating additional spaces for wait listed campers paying in the two lower brackets. Thanks to the generosity of our families, we’ve historically been able to make sure no-one is turned away.
What if I pay more than the “true cost of camp”?
Tuition paid above the “true cost of camp” is a non-refundable tax deductible donation to our parent non-profit 501c3, Concrete Foundation, Inc. We track these donations to offset campers paying less than the full amount. You will receive a receipt with your camp confirmation email to use for tax purposes. Around 25% of families are able to contribute more than the true cost of camp, which allows us to extend our scholarship budget to accommodate more families in need.
Who receives subsidized rates?
Around 25% of campers at Hosmer Point pay less than the true cost of camp. Some families just need a little assistance to make camp feasible, while others require full scholarships. Hosmer Point works with several social service agencies, as well as individual families, to enroll youth in foster care, refugees, New Americans, children of migrant farm workers, and other kids who may have less access to summer camp.
How do you use my tuition dollars?
So glad you asked! The majority of tuition dollars are for salaries and health benefits for our staff. The second largest line item is upkeep for our 52 acre campus, the third is food and food service, and the fourth is supplies and equipment for our programs. Hosmer Point does not make a profit beyond what is needed to save for future maintenance needs.
Will what I pay impact my child’s camp experience?
No. Tuition amounts are confidential and are not shared outside of those assisting with registration and payments.
I can’t pay the minimum amounts. What are my options?
Please give us a call or email. If there are adequate funds available, we will do our best to get your child to camp! Keep in mind that we offer interest-free payment plans.
Are there other ways to get help paying for camp?
Many churches, schools, community groups, and clubs offer scholarships for campers. Often school guidance counselors can give advice about where to find other help paying for camp. Hosmer Point is happy to work with the Department of Children and Families and other social service agencies to make camp a possibility.
