Good morning, HP community!
As our Polar Bears participants will tell you, there is no better way to wake up in the morning than diving into Great Hosmer Pond. Our bravest campers and lifeguards get up at 7 am to make their way to the lake, jump in, swim to the middle point between the point and bay, and sing to wake up those of us who choose to stay warm in bed. This early morning tradition has been happening at camp for many years and is always a wonderful experience.
Breakfast this morning was a delicious French toast bake and fresh fruit prepared by our fantastic kitchen staff. We source as locally as possible, so everything is delicious and fresh! Peaches made a surprise appearance this morning and were quite the commodity.
Last night was Casino Night! As usual, this was a very exciting night at camp. Campers participated in various casino-themed games to try to win HP dollars for their teams. They then bid on “prizes”, that sometimes don’t turn out how you’d expect! One team will be giving the camp dogs a bath as their prize. Challenges for our very enthusiastic counselors included a sunset dive into the lake (wearing jeans, a button-down shirt, and work boots, of course). The costumes were fantastic (a top hat is always a must), and it was wonderful seeing how much the campers enjoyed it.
Some of our electives today include Synchronized Swimming (guided by our amazing director Jordan), Flower Quest (collecting wildflowers from around camp!), Clown College, and Swing Dancing in the barn!
It is beautiful and sunny here on camp, and it is going to be a great day! We’re drinking lots of water, wearing our sunscreen, and safely soaking up the sun!
Kind regards,
The Camp Blog Team
