Saturday July 10
Today was Link day! That means we got to sleep in an hour later, and the polar bears did their chant sneaky style so we could really catch up on rest. The schedule today was completely different, and very relaxed. We find its important to take a step away from our traditional busy jam packed schedule to recharge and just have fun together on Saturdays. We had an all-over-camp house cup competition involving kuub, ping pong, bracelet making, floor hockey, foosball, palace, tetherball, and more. We played an all camp game called Hunger Games which is like an every-person-for-themselves dodgeball game. In the afternoon we had some free choices like tie dye, waterfront, cabin time, backyard, or game room. One of our big competitions for the house cup is Call of the Loon which is for the oldest kids in camp (13+). It is a long relay involving canoeing, running, soccer, archery, basketball, swimming, paddleboarding, and firebuilding. It was really fun for us all to cheer on our team mates throughout the race. The call of the loon winner this year was team Hufflepuff! We had burgers and hot dogs at the waterfront and had a big beach party to end the evening. It was really fun to swim together and then warm up at a bonfire and hear Jon tell stories. Tomorrow we will start new focus areas and return to our normal camp schedule.
