Monday July 18
It’s the first full day of our session! After our first nights sleep an astounding number of Polar Bears swam from the Point and the Bay and met at the buoy for our morning chant. We had a full breakfast of banana bread, oatmeal, potatoes, fruit, cereal and scrambled eggs before heading out to community work time (think chores with a smile). After that we headed out to our first focus areas. Campers got to choose from an array of fun activities for their focus areas such as: advanced mountain biking and sailing, woodworking, trail building, survival skills, TINY arts and crafts, sculling, theater and beyond. The oldest campers will also be working and bonding with each other during CAPSTONE sessions. A much needed rain arrived during lunch, deterring no one from continuing their fun activities in the afternoon. We had wonderful dinner of roast pork loin, cheesy mashed potatoes, braised kale, and kohlrabi from our garden. We postponed stones as our evening activity because of the rain and instead did a fun cabin night where we got to know everyone and to hang out. and play games. The rain was still falling gently as we fell asleep to get ready for a new day.
